Introduction:

Methylnaftalen is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). It is present in cigarette smoke, wood smoke, tar, asphalt, and at some hazardous waste sites. Methylnaftalen is a colorless, oily liquid with a naphthalene-like odor that evaporates with the vapors, flammable, insoluble in water and soluble in ether and ethanol.

Preparation:
