Description

Argatroban is a peptidomimetic small molecule direct thrombin inhibitor (DTI), functional as an anticoagulant agent. Thrombin

is responsible for activating many factors and proteins in the coagulation response pathway, and inhibition of thrombin

activity curbs this response and restricts formation of clots. Direct thrombin inhibition has been described to

protect against thrombosis by limiting the formation of clots inside blood vessels.
