Lauric acid (English: Lauric acid), also known as dodecanoic acid, is a saturated fatty acid. Its molecular formula is C12H24O2. Although it is called lauric acid, it only accounts for 1-3% of the lauric oil content. At present, vegetable oils having a high lauric acid content are found to be 45-52% of coconut oil, 44-52% of palm kernel oil, and 43-44% of babassu kernel.
Although lauric acid is a saturated fatty acid, its cardiovascular disease risk is lower than other saturated fatty acids.
